The Pinecraft neighborhood in Sarasota, FL, has a unique history. Pinecraft was founded in the 1920s for Amish and Mennonites to use the land for agriculture. Unfortunately, the land was not suitable for the primary crop, celery, however a grid of small homes remains as do many Amish, who return during the winter months, swelling and shrinking the population each year.
The numerous businesses in the area offer visitors a hard-earned certificate of quality. From the handmade furniture, the fresh groceries, and the delicious restaurants. The area is a must-visit. Perhaps the most famous staple in Pinecraft is Yoder’s Amish Village (3434 Bahia Vista St.).
Yoder’s slings award-winning pies and more
Yoder’s has been delighting residents of Sarasota since 1975. Noted for providing guests the comfort of being at “mom’s dinner table”, co-owners Levi and Amanda Yoder and more members of the Yoder family tree have been slinging delicious, award-winning pies, and mouthwatering fried chicken and pot roasts.
Yoder’s Amish Village began as a single restaurant. But their success allowed them to expand into a veritable village. In 2007, a gift shop launched; in 2009, a produce market; the deli followed suit in 2010. The traditionally prepared meats and cheeses are brought in from Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Customer reviews cite the authentic, homey Amish cooking—large portions at reasonable prices—and the exceptional, friendly service provided by the staff. The robust menu will appease any palate, and the portion size, any belly. Check out the full menu for Yoder’s Restaurant here.
