Sarasota Christmas Boat Parade
On Saturday, December 14, starting at 6 p.m., a parade of boats decked out for the holiday season will cruise through Sarasota Bay. The parade route begins off the coast of Long Boat Key, cuts through the middle of Sarasota Bay, then circles Marina Jack harbor before heading toward Bird Key. This annual event is made possible through the support of Suncoast Charities for Children and Marina Jack. The best viewing spots are City Island, Bay Front Park, and Marina Jack. St. Armands Circle Holiday Night of Lights
On Friday, December 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., St. Armands Circle will light its 60-foot Christmas tree, host a Santa parade, and feature entertainers, with many of the 100+ local shops offering holiday discounts. Complete with caroling, this family-friendly event brings a cheerful dose of Christmas spirit to the streets. Pro-tip: if you plan on dining out during this event, make reservations in advance. Venice Holiday Parade
Taking place the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the Venice Holiday Parade has been a staple for over 45 years. Featuring over 100 floats, the parade begins at 6:30 p.m. on November 30, running a mile-long route. The event is expected to attract thousands of viewers, with the parade viewable from Venice and Nokomis Avenues. Given its popularity, attendees can begin staking their spots as early as November 27 at 6 p.m. Centennial Park offers free parking on the day of the event.
Selby Gardens Lights in Bloom
More than two million lights will illuminate the gardens and walkways of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens from December 6 through January 1. Guests can experience the lush holiday displays from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Atomic Holiday Bazaar
While this annual staple is typically among Sarasota’s must-do holiday events, Hurricane Milton has temporarily closed the Municipal building that hosts it, as it is being used by FEMA. Organizers hope to revive the event by 2025.
